Episode Four - "Ladies Blues"

The fourth show features some of the women who play the blues.

The first segment with Ann Rabson was shot at the Ramada Hotel and the Silver Dollar Room. Ann was very generous with her time and she has been a big supporter of my project since that day we met. Like so many of the people I have spoken to, her love of the blues is evident in her words. Although, she is a part of one of the most (if not the most) successful all women's blues band (Saffire Uppity Blues Women) in history, she also keeps herself very busy with her solo career. There's no doubt that B.B. King has logged a lot of time on the road but from what I can see, Ann is right behind him.

The next segment is called "the ladies sing the blues" and is collection of thoughts from various female artists regarding the advantages and disadvantages of being a woman and playing the blues. In a way, I know it's a silly question because when all is said and done, does it really matter? No. However, it was something I wanted to document and in the end, I was interested by the various answers I did receive.

I conclude this show with another profile of musician. Rita Chiarelli has been playing the blues since her teenage years and she has established a decent following in both Canada and in Europe. With her latest release, "Woman In Blue", she is tackling the United States. Rita is a very personable and humorous individual who I really enjoyed getting to know. She, too, has been very supportive of my project from the time we met and I appreciate all the encouragements she has given me.
